Arsenal news: Serie A clubs targeting one of Mikel Arteta's 'squad players' in January
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have got themselves back on track following a run of three games without a win.
The Gunners beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the Premier League before dismantling Sporting in the Champions League 5-1 on Tuesday.
Despite their brief blip of poor form, several of Arsenal’s fringe players are still unable to make the starting lineup.
Interest from Italy
Polish defender Jakub Kiwior is one of those squad members, as numerous top-flight Italian sides have registered their interest in the 24-year-old.
Both Fiorentina and Napoli are said to be eyeing up a potential loan move for the Poland international, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercato.
Kiwior has experience playing in Italy, as he moved to the Gunners from now Serie B side Spezia for a fee of £19.5million in January 2023.
The central defender made 43 appearances in all competitions during his time at the Italian club.
Still in Mikel Arteta’s plans?
Kiwior has played just 98 minutes of Premier League football from the bench this season, with his only starts in red and white coming in the Gunners’ ongoing EFL Cup campaign.
Despite playing the role of a backup, Arteta may be reluctant to allow the defender to leave the club in January, especially without a viable replacement lined up.
The Spaniard often deploys Kiwior at left-back or centre-back, taking advantage of the Polish defender’s versatility, which could be hard to replace.
Whilst a move in the summer could be a strong possibility, it is unlikely that Kiwior will leave North London in January.
