Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta ready to listen to offers for Premier League midfielder
Arsenal have been back to their best since Martin Ødegaard has returned from injury, with the Gunners defeating historic rivals Manchester United midweek.
The Gunners were struggling to create chances and win games without their star midfielder, with many fans questioning why youngster Ethan Nwaneri had not got more game time whilst the Norwegian was injured.
The Hale End academy product has hugely impressed in his limited game time, though, scoring four goals in 11 appearances in all competitions.
The emergence of Nwaneri within the Arsenal first team could spell the end for some of the Gunners’ talent who are currently out on loan from the club.
Up for sale
According to the Mail Plus, Mikel Arteta has put Portuguese playmaker Fabio Vieira up for sale.
The 24-year-old is currently out on loan at FC Porto, the club Arsenal signed the midfielder from two years ago.
However, the Portuguese side does not have an option or obligation to purchase Vieira in their current agreement with the Gunners.
Hard start to life in N5
It is no secret that Vieira has not had the best of starts in an Arsenal shirt, with the Portuguese playmaker falling well below the required standard.
Vieira has, of course, had his moments at the Emirates Stadium, however, the midfielder was limited to just 16 appearances in all competitions last season, which mainly came from the bench.
It has not all been entirely down to how the former Porto man has performed, as Vieira has struggled with injuries whilst with the Gunners, being sidelined for 133 days with foot and groin issues last season.
A permanent transfer, either in January or the summer, could be beneficial for both parties in a similar way to how Emile Smith Rowe’s move to Fulham has worked out.
Arsenal is unlikely to recoup the £35million that they shelled out to FC Porto for Vieira’s services in 2022 but will be looking to get a large portion of that back.
