Chelsea news: Enzo Maresca ready to bring England and Premier League star back to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have been flying under new manager Enzo Maresca this season, with the Blues sitting pretty 3rd in the Premier League.
The Italian continued the West Londoners’ huge recent turnover in personnel, making 11 signings over the summer.
However, the 44-year-old manager is still in the market for new players and has his eye on one of England’s biggest talents.
Made in Cobham
Marc Guéhi came into this season off the back of a hugely impressive European Championship campaign with England, which saw the Three Lions reach the final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
The 24-year-old only missed one match in England’s run to the final and was one of their stand-out performers.
Currently at Premier League side Crystal Palace, Guéhi came through the ranks at Chelsea’s academy, spending 14 years at the club before moving to Selhurst Park for £20million.
Guéhi only made two senior appearances whilst at his boyhood club, with both coming in the EFL Cup, however, he has since gone on to play 126 times for Palace.
Attracting plenty of interest
With a move back to his first professional club on the cards, Guéhi has also attracted interest from elsewhere.
Fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle United are also said to be interested in the central defender and could swoop in this January.
However, it is believed that the England international would prefer a move back to West London over heading up to Newcastle.
With Crystal Palace down in 19th place, Guéhi could opt to jump ship this January if the opportunity comes.
The Eagles will likely demand a big fee beyond £60million for their star defender, but with both clubs heavily backed financially, that would not stop a potential transfer.
