Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim set to land Patrick Dorgu for his first signing as Red Devils boss
Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Lecce wing-back Patrick Dorgu for a reported fee of £25million - which could rise to £30million in add-ons.
The versatile wing-back, who can play on either side of defence or as a winger, could be the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era at Old Trafford.
Dorgu has featured 21 times for the Serie A side, tallying four goal contributions as Lecce sits firmly in the relegation zone.
According to Fabrizio Romano via X, the Red Devils have a “verbal agreement” in place with Lecce for an agreed fee understood to be around £25.2million plus £4.2million in add-ons.
Dorgu destined for the Red Devils
A medical has been booked for Thursday according to Romano, with the 20-year-old ready to make the switch to the Premier League.
Primarily a left wing-back, the Danish international started in the Lecce’s last match - a 4-0 home defeat to Inter Milan.
Amorim’s system operates with a back five comprising of three centre-backs and two wing-backs.
Diogo Dalot has often filled the left wing-back position for the Portuguese boss since he arrived in Manchester.
Alejandro Garnach-go?
Whilst Amorim will be delighted to add a natural left-footed defender to his side, there are still concerns over the future of Alejandro Garnacho.
Reports suggested Napoli had moved on from the Argentine, and are now targeting Borrusia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.
But Romano states that the German forward does not wish to leave halfway through the season - as Antonio Conte focuses his attention back to Garnacho - who Man Utd value at around £60million.
The Parthenopeans lost Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to French giants Paris Saint-Germain this month for around £59million - so they need a replacement.
